Welcome!     Bienvenue!

Canadian Parents for French (CPF) is the national network of volunteers which values French as an integral part of Canada and which is dedicated to the promotion and creation of French second language learning opportunities for young Canadians.

Canadian Parents for French was founded in 1977 by a group of 35 parents who wanted all young Canadians to have the opportunity to learn and use the French language. CPF, now a registered charity, includes thousands of individuals, families, and organizations as members.

Across Canada:

  • CPF works with the federal government and national organizations involved in education to create an environment supportive of French second language education.
  • CPF provides volunteer training and development
  • CPF provides information and resources about French second language learning.

In your province or territory:

  • CPF works with your Ministry or Department of Education, teacher organizations, and other groups concerned about education to ensure that there is support for French second language education.
  • CPF organizes French language activities for students from across the province or territory.

In your community:

  • CPF-Nelson Chapter supports and works with trustees, board office administration and staff in all 3 Immersion schools to promote the well being of French Immersion in our schools.
  • We have access to funding sources that allow us to provide extra-curricular activities to students in our district. CPF-Nelson Chapter meetings and the CPF provincial and national newsletters provide excellent information on exchanges, excursions, work opportunities, and summer camps.
  • CPF-Nelson Chapter holds monthly meetings and also participates, along with parents of children in the French Immersion program, on committees such as the French Advisory Council and the Revitalization Grant Committee. If you would like become involved, please review the Committee Descriptions for further information.
